As you can tell from my lack of posts from the last year, I havent been doing much cake or chocolate work! I took some time off to have a baby...who is almost a year old now! Time has flown by. We welcomed Samantha David into our lives on November 22nd 2009 and since then she has been my world. I am now getting back into cake making and with the holidays just around the corner, chocolates are on my mind.
In fact, a friend of mine and myself are doing a holiday bazaar to sell candies and cupcakes the first weekend in November. We have never done this before, so we are hoping to get a decent turnout.
I want to give a big thank you to all the friends, family and other customers who have let me make some amazing cakes for you. I hope to get some more orders soon...my mind is flowing with new ideas!

A Black and White wedding

This cake was 4 tiers of different flavors. Vanilla Bean Cake w/ Dark Chocolate mousse, Red Velvet Cake w/Vanilla Bean Mousse, Lemon Cake w/ Raspberry Mousse and Dark Chocolate Cake w/ Salted Caramel-Cashew filling. YUM! The cake was covered in alternating black and white fondant. The flowers were done with royal icing using a technique called brush embroidery. The pearls were all hand rolled out of fondant and coated in pearl dust. The setting for this wedding was amazing. It was at someones home in Snohomish with a lot of property. The centerpieces were stacks of old books with black candleobras and white candles. They also had lighted lamp posts around the tent and dancefloor. No detail was left untouched, even the outdoor bathroom facilities had black feathers on the handles. The bride and groom drove up to the cermony in a 1920's vehicle. Once I saw all their decor, I knew why the bride picked this design for her cake, it fit perfectly!
